now i saw this map on armaholic.com and downloaded it. http://www.armaholic.com/index.php?m=single&id=3220 it is designed specialy for tornaments (well ic arma). there are 2 main bases at each end containg range, barracs, airfeild, moter pool etc.a city in the middle and other towns around the edges.there are a couple of small islands out of the way (we could use for overnumbers dump place). we could still used the linked objective system but it would have to be altered slightly.there is plenty of foilage , mountains and hills and is the perfect setting for some thilling battles. and is not just some buildings placed in a cluser and called 'a town' there are gardens bus stops walls and is made in great detail.also the is no air island but the main base has an airstip and hangars and we could always use a carrier?

@Moody we have a map team, however we do not have the technical or artistic expertese required to produce custom map files for ArmA.
If anyone wants to have a go the mod-team will give them what support we can. Our mod looks at how and where to place objectives on maps available. -- IC have put alot of work into this map and it shows, you only appreciate how difficult and timeconsuming this is until you try it. I like the layout, but I dislike the desert textures; however I can also tell that desert maps are much quicker ( to play and to design ) than woodland maps, and it may well be that later on IC Arma will release a greener version of this map. Also I have misgivings about using an IC arma map for the main battleday. However what do other people think...? BA

Being new to the community I have no idea what history there is between IC and AToW, but this looks like a well done map designed for just the kind of things we're doing. I think it might be ok for a short campaign type thing, maybe not a whole tour.

It is a nice looking map with some very interesting terrain. The desert environment is broken up nicely by rock formations, bushes, buildings and very uneven ground. The mountainous terrain makes for areas that are infantry only and provide good cover for flanking and ambushes.
Basically it is a 3km x 4km island which makes it a little close in terms of aircraft and large scale manoverability. It is however ideal for helicopters (slow moving) as there are many places for them to hide and pop-up for a quick shot. The fact that it is an IC ArmA map, means nothing to me (there are enough differences between the two that a similar map shouldn't make a difference are there not?), a map is a map. PS I like the Schmalfelden map, very nice and 5km x 5km (but not an island), it is not very air friendly but maybe it just adds a challenge to produce huge bragging rights.
