Arma- Steam Verision MP Woes

Hey looking for some help for a friend.. He just got ArmA-via steam. He can only play for about 15mins offline before a lock up and online it lets him connect but then immediately crashes for him.

The version of 1.08 is the same so it's not compatibility on that end.(i think)

Wondering if you all had any ideas or experience with the steam-D/L / Version of the game and problems/tweaks for it.

If your friend lives near by and you have the Cd/DVD, try it from it.
But hes rig seems ok, so no idea

I have the Direct2Drive version with no problems. I've tried Steam a few times over the years and had nothing but problems. Hope he gets it worked out. Dren's idea seems like a good place to start eliminating problems like Steam.

get him to remove a stick ram or set his max ram by:
Click on Start Menu --> Run --> type msconfig
Click Boot tab --> Advanced Options
Tick Maximum memory and set to 3072 = 3GB or 1536 = 1.5GB
Restart PC
Launch armed assault

i belive this issue is todo with the way arma see's over 3GB of ram
You might wanna get him to try arma patch 1.09/1.11beta patchs

He;s in Florida I'm in West Virginia so I'm not letting him have my disk :P

I'll see what ArmATEC's RAM reduction does for him. He only got the game for shits and giggles it's not a genre he is really into. He just wanted to see if he could get it work and tool around with my other WW cronies now and then.
