The topic of the map for C3 is one which the council has been discussing and researching for several weeks now. This was a difficult road to travel. Considering all avenues presented and the overwhelming consensus for change, we had limited options on how to proceed.

We are now in the closing stages of making the decision. We have about 3 weeks with all the Christmas holidays festivities coming up to polish the C3 campaign and start first week of January. We need to finish C3 before Arma2 is released if we can so there is an easy transition for C4 using Arma2.

What we have done in the past two weeks:
1. We had several people search for a suitable non-QG map that would supports an infantry focused concept that we are looking for C3.
2. We tested ACE Islands Freya map (non-QG map)
3. We tested the Uhao community map. (non-QG map)
4. We got an up-to-date and hopefully accurate feedback on how many had QG or was willing to get it if we had to.
5. We contacted the Authors of the QG 3DE map about giving us permission to convert the map. They have responded. This is a dead end.
6. Review of QG license and contact BI. See more about this below.
7. We contacted Distributors for reduced price for QG. See details below. As leaders we feel we have done a responsible job of handling these concerns and the final verdict is not been determined but time is running out quickly. At present we believe that we will be using the 3de map for campaign 3.

We need to progress the development of the mission design and code ready for the start of the campaign. To do this we need to commit to working and testing with a single map, however we continue to look for suitable alternatives and if found we would re-assess the situation.

The final point which is being examined regarding the 3de map relates to the legalities of providing files which came from the Queens Gambit expansion, as part of our mod. We are examining the licence agreements in detail and have contacted BIS for confirmation of our interpretation. We certainly do not want to break any legal agreement as this would almost certainly cast doubt on the future of the tournament but if we can seek approval to provide QG content as part of our mod this is the ideal avenue for us to take.

In the mean time the ongoing fun tests will now be conducted on the 3de map. We understand that some of you do not have Queens Gambit and would only consider purchasing it after a firm decision has made.

Whilst we hope to have an answer from BIS quickly we would like to prepare for the situation where we are not allowed to distribute the content. With have the offer of a 10% discount from Idea (providers of the Sprocket download service). This would be achieved by the issuing of discount codes to be used on their site.

Therefore if you will be purchasing Queens Gambit once the confirmation of its use for C3 is given; please send a PM to Bazooka_Boy who will compile the names/numbers ready to request the discount codes.
