-7-
Well lets just say, you and Super64 was supposed to do the narrowing. :army_wink:
But since I didn't get a definitive post, I decided make a post/poll to take all the ones I could remember that everyone said they liked and asked the players. And in case I missed one I added a 3rd option.
So -7-, it sounds like for you, your vote is the 3rd option where you post the one I missed. :army_wink:
So which one is it?
That is what this vote is for LOL.
It was only started today. Ends tomorrow.

I didn't do as extensive testing as should've been done with the hifi sound mod but rather threw it out as soon as i heard multiple sounds i disliked. I would like an opportunity to test one more "wild card" before the weekend dawns on us. But to be perfectly honest i think the best thing for the tourney would be, as far as sound mods are concerned, is to start a chop shop that will break down the best of the best sounds from each mod and make our own. This obviously would require (far as i know) the consent of each author of each sound mod we would derive the content from. I'd be more than willing to do this if someone who knew how to manipulate each sound mod making our own would do the leg work in that department, i'm imagining that would take more than one person. Is this to serious an undertaking just two weeks before the tournament starts?
P.S. The UN does not approve of any copyright infringement at this tournament.

I read the info on the sound mod and it changes stuff around in the game as well as sound and this is why FFAM wasn't put in a while ago cos of the extra crap with it.
Heres a link to it change log

Ah, that's a bit silly for a sound mod to do. Maybe the extras can be removed and it can be tested next time?

As the poll is closed. The Poll results will be honored.

While I have bumped this - until we can ge to the bottom on some of the lag and desynch issues we may well be using zero sound mods for the next weekend.

Played a bit with it and not much impressed me, except the grenade sounds, nice thump. Many of the sounds are very similar to the stock BIS sounds, so there is not much bonus to it.
This mod has the same basic problem that most do, the sounds are not correct for the shooter. They have that 'been recorded from the news or range video' sound that is good for watching, but not for being in. Sounds need to have two basic components, the sound from the shooter's perspective and the sound from everyone else's perspective, direction and distance are a function of the latter.
Not saying it is a horrible sound mod, just that it is not going to be replacing the one I use as the sounds have that pieced together feel. The more I tinker with sound mods, the more I think that you cannot actually use real sounds as such. I think you have to make the sounds from scratch and adjust the parameters to match what you get in reality. Many sounds in many mods are missing bass, or snap or that certain pitch that pulls you into the environment.
As has been mentioned before, everyone has their own taste.
