Ok in my quest to find out which PC systems best suits me, i am wondering what the best Graphics card is out at the moment. There are quite a few the Nvidia GeForce 9800 GX2, able to filter 76.8 billion pixels per second. Pretty impressive, but i hear that the ATI Radeon HD 4850 is pretty damn good as well. So What Graphics cards do you think are the best??
In my opinion itb has to be the Nvidia GeForce GTX 280, Direct X10, New core system builf from scratch, and its only been out for 2 months. Some more info on dis Webpage: http://benchmarkreviews.com/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=179&Itemid=72

Nvidia GTX 280 or the ATI HD 4870 are a the top of the heap at the moment.

I have heard that the 9800GX2 Drivers are a bit iffy, as it is 2 cards in one.

The 980GX2 Latest drivers lower performance by 40% according to benchmarreviews. Its best to stay with the older driver rather than update at this moment in time.

Tom's Hardware (www.tomshardware.com/review) does a great job in serious evaluation of stuff.
He recommends the HD4850 and demonstrates its performance advantages over various 9600 versions. HD4870 has better specs but isn't yet available.
I was about to buy a 9600GT but I'm getting the HD4850 now, which I hope will be a better card for less money.

Stryker, I thought that you were not getting a pc until you were 17 (two years?) therefore this thread is a waste of time.

Yer it probably is. But its intresting to see what graphics cards are available now. I suppose they will be better in 2 years time.

I am looking into buying a new graphic card myself, so i have looked into the issue:
The best GFX card money can buy atm is the gtx280. That might change with the release of the 4870x2 ATI card (they will come in 1gb and 2gb versions GDDR 5).
Also, 2x4870 (they also come in 512 and 1gb version - just released) are above the GTX280 and you even save some cash. Same goes for 260gtx cards.

TBH, now, i would go for ATI. They cards are not pushed to 100% because of the drivers, but that will change. atm, the 4870 and the gtx260 (same core as 280) performance is almost a match. They now cost almost the same. So it is a matter of choice after all...

My primary "hardware resource" and revies is www.guru3d.com. Objective and on the subject reviews (by europeans :P)

Well in order to get a GTx 280 or any card in that series to work with your PC, you need a GTX GPU Compatible motherboard and a higher PSU Power supply. So you would have to invest alot of money.
