Hello everyone. I am new to the site and rather new to ARMA. I was a previous Americas Army player, but I was looking for a more realistic game, and I stumbled on your community. All seems pretty amazing. I was just wondering about some details about how it all works? I read the Rules and ect, but I would like to know how the battle works out?

Do the scouts actually conduct operations that a scout platoon would normally conduct? Same for snipers / Long Range Reconnaissance and Surveillance Teams / Spec Op Units ect?

Alright, Im still trying to wrap my head around what you got here, ubt my MWR time is up, got to go.

Yup! Each army is broken down into teams. Air wing, recon, tanks battalion, various infantry fireteams. During the battles each one is given a basic battleplan by their commanding officers and throughout the battle are often given other tasks as well.

Recon might end up HALO jumping far behind lines and satchel charging enemy supply vehicles while infantry might get pinned down by a sniper and ask the tank battalions or air wing to provide some heavy firepower to clear the way. Meanwhile individual fireteams often work together to capture objectives or shift their focus to address a new enemy threat.

It's pretty intense, and for the most part very serious. During the week it's cool to goof off and rambo missions all you want, but on gameday you do as your fireteam lead says or people die. :)

Hey Drausus,
Dude, if you like AA then you'll love arma. And you'll really love the breed of ArmA we play. If you browse the forums you'll find a lot of useful info about how it works, the rules and how to join.

As for the armies units, each army is structured a bit different but we both have similar ideas. There are generally Infantry, Armor, Recon and Air divisions. As far as your question about the scout units, they are generally more specialized soldiers with more specific missions. I also enjoyed americas army. But armed assault is like AA but on a massive scale. You should definitely sign up.... i mean enlist! haha
