I was getting a few more crashes in Arma than usual. Jimmy was also having some problems (I haven't spoken to him so they may not have been the same). He found improvement by removing some recent windows XP updates
KB948881, KB941693, KB945553 and KB948590
I'm not suggesting you do this unless you need to, but if you do there is an easy way to find them. Open 'add & remove progams' from your control pannel. Tick 'show updates' then select 'Date Last Used' from the drop down list. This will sort the windows updates by install date and you should find that the updates which match the KB numbers above are the last four that where installed.

30minutes ago I was going to confirm that this works but I just got back on from a rather nasty crash. This fix hasnt sorted the crashes for me, neither has-
-reinstalling drivers motherboard/display
-using driver removal tool
-I'v ran RAM test for ages which didnt find anything
-updated my BIOS
-loads of shite
this is really depressing, getting a new machine and arma crashes :(

This haven't looked up the following KB articles but there was also a bad .NET 2.0 SP1 upate that I had JimmyTheDeath uninstall. That seem to work for him.
There is a way to a *clean* re-install of .NET 2.0 for those who needs it. Let me know and I will dig the info.

45|Bazooka Boy,
You are not the only one. I am still crashing in 1.12 beta also. I have reloaded drivers checked different things. The only thing I could come down too is ArmA is still causing it.If anyone could help please take a look at my system specs.
My specs:
Windows xp SP2
AMD Athlon 3000+
Asus A7N8X Motherboard
Evga Nvidia 6800GTOC APG
Corsiar 2GB dd1 Memory
Sound Blaster Live
everything is updated to the latest drivers.
That is all,

Hell I must be one of the lucky ones. Before 1.12 I was crashing every battle because of a texture memory problem. After 2 battles with 1.12 no issues. With 1.12 I can also run with the full 4GB of ram instead of having to restrict it to 3GB.

Here are the instructions I gave Jimmy. Now I will get him to give you his account of what happened.
But on the business side I had clients that where this Microsoft update last week completely stopped the use of keep programs on the same days Jimmy started crashing. So on the off chance that this would fix Jimmy too I just gave it to him and he told me when he removed it stopped crashing. So good luck.

Unforunutly for me none of this has helped me, I still keep getting crashes, I actually got the dodgey colour changes/crashes just watching a video on my desktop last night. I uninstalled all those updates and removed .net 2.0, such a guttener. I'v set up dual boot so I can start with vista now to see if that will help but guess what, sods law dictated I am out of activation codes so I'v had to contact metaboli for another one (doubtful they will repond before tomorrow). Looks like I'l be taking my chances with XP after all :p

I know it may not be fun Finch but you can still be a HUGE help if you can stay in channels even if your game cannot function. Speak to me on battleday. Thanks. Good Luck.
