View Full Version : Battleday Time Warnings

The last few battledays I've noticed the UN giving us really weird time warnings, like:
18minutes remaining!
Why 18? Aren't we supposed to get warnings at the half our, 15min, 10min, 5min, and 1min marks?
This can be accomplished with a script, and therefore it would be accurate and free up the UN so that they won't miss the count.
Thoughts?

Gunther, they are just looking at the same game timer the BFCO/Generals have. They are just trying to give players an idea how much time is left. They dont "have" to give any warnings. Im fine with a random time left announcement.

Ahh, but in the rules is says that they do give warnings.
"Both Armies will get 1 hour, 30 minute, 15 minute, and a 5 minute audible notifications prior to time being called. Once time is called all soldiers must stop fighting. No objective captures, deaths or vehicle losses will be counted after time is called."

It doesn't matter too much, most of us keep a clock running, but if we are told that we will get them, we should get them and in the manner established. Otherwise, rescind the rule.
Gunther was just making an observation.

Wow, nitpicking has reached a new high. I mean fair enough if they gave 5min warning instead of 20 or 10, but 18min warning instead of 20? Come on.
Remember, you have the in-game clock to check.

It is not nit picking, it is an observation.
If he was stating it without any backup from the tournament rules forum, it would be nit picking.

If you look in the upper left hand corner where the HINTS go they do pop up. But if you are destracted by bullets or if another HINTS pops up (like the OverNumbers ) may overwrite that Visible Time Warning hint you will miss it.
Also EVERYONE in the game can click the SHOW GAME TIME action menu and see how much time has elapsed on the Server and since and you can find out at any time yourself without asking how much time is left since you know we play a 3 hour battleday.
The time warnings by the UN is completely arbitrary and by courtesy.
You are empowered to keep track of time yourself.

Yes thank you, we are aware of these things.
LCpl Gunther was stating an observation and you guys are making it very hard for someone to contemplate doing that ever again. Perhaps the next time an observation is made that shows information, action or behaviour that is contrary to current written rules it will receive a "what do you know, you are correct. We don't need to do that because of the following so that "rule" will be removed", or perhaps a "thank you for the observation, but that is the way it is going to be"
Don't mistake my statements as a blind following of the "rules", just a statement that if you say you are going to do something and you bother to put it in writing, you should do it or remove it.

Thank you Snake Raper, the ruel will be removed. It was establised when "show gametime" script wasnt available as the reguar watch isnt accurate.
The UN will continue this service for those who like it.

I figured as much.
The warnings are handy, but we often miss them in the heat of battle.
