View Full Version : Stolen Vehicles

So far there havent been any real profit for stealing enemy vehicles.
So what if you steal enemyes vehicle and manage to drive/fly it to your base you would get some resources out of it if its still there in end of battle?
The side who lost theyr vehicle this way would still loose the resources what the vehicle costed.
And here comes the catch, because you need to "repari" and repaint etc... the vehicle to "look" like your side gear (transform UAZ to Hummvee, or opposite :) ) you will gain only HALF what the vehicle costs.
So let take this fictional stealing and resource costs.
Russian player called steve was so bored of guarding russian airfield that he decided to take small trip behind enemy lines. Luckily he did find US MHQ parked next to tree. Little steve did only have couple rocks in hes pocket, so he decided to steal the MHQ. While he drives to russian base couple poor US soldiers tryes to spawn in it and drops off to ground in high speed, little steve is having blast.
In the end of the day, superior UN General Coolio goes and peaks what little steve and hes buddyes have stealed and he sees the poor US MHQ.
Then Superior UN General Coolio then removes 2000 Resources from US and adds 1000 Resources to RU.
in short...
US looses the cost of MHQ and russia earns the resources -work hours of the transform.
US looses 2000 resources, RU earns 1000 resources.
This would give some meaning and use for stealing vehicles than just blowing them up

I'd rather just blow them up. It's seems like an extra complication to managing the resources system to be honest.

I have always like this and similar ideas. If we can code it for campaign 2, I would be interested in tournament of such rewards.

We dont think we need any codes.
UN can warp from spot to another, so Coolio, would it be too much pain to check bases after fight for vehicles? also even BFCO's could tell what they have after each battle.
Or there could be just "trigger" and stolen vehicles should be parked inside it and it would count them on end of battle?
This is just the base idea and we can work it to suit everyone.
And end battle, so no one could cause double costs by blowing them up

A trigger is code.
And although our UN is very reliable, you should always build a tournament that can function without the UN if possible or at least make the UN job easy. You do not know how LUCKY we are to have Coolio and ArMaTeC. Actually I should just say Coolio because ArMaTeC is going back to a division as I understand it.
We also have to code for situations in case the server crashes. Even though the server itself has never crashed during our entire Campaign One.

I'd go further and go for a system where..
* All unused resources are refunded at half rate, this is to discourage overspend.
* All stolen resources are refunded at 1 ( mb.even 1.5) rate.
If you really want to go mad: then introduce bidding, each army bids DOWN how many resources they are going to use each battleday. ie. you bid away equipment...

I think the system is nice as it is and if it would change id rather see it changing to have both armies buy their stuff at the beginning ouf the campaing and stick to it troughout.
This way supply and support becomes even more essential. Im not voting for this (the current system is really functional) mearly suggesting that this whole thing has another perspective too. But would we change, i would pick fick from that line of thinking rather than more complicated or elaborate spending and resource systems.

I guess a end game screenshot of the vehicles would do, but the spreadsheet would need to be changed as well Dren.

I demand rocks be able to be picked up and used as both melee and projectile weapons so I can stone smartass blue bunnies to death.

tsssss Steve you wont be able to hit "them" any ways.
What you need is a M1034 (NATO designation: Quantum BunnieGun) that fires waves of deadly energy, that are move through space in a more distubing and unpredictebel way than blue bunnies can.
If you cant get that through the ballance team, you could ask Armatec to build you a sauna that would replace the claymore mine, that some has allready requested.
This is how it works:
Use you side menu to deploy the sauna near water.
When the bunnie enters the souna you start the timer.
DO NOT TIGGER THE CLAYMORE SOUNA YET. (Dont worry, the bunnie will be in there for hours, spanking it self butt naked, so you have plenty of time.)
After 35-40 min the server will catch up to the bunnies movement, its time to trigger the claymore. Do that now.
You should see a kill message, and if not, the bunnie probably ran down into the water to cool down. You wouldn't have seen that ofcause because of the warping, but you dont really wanna see a naked bunnie anyways, unless your some kind of pervert.

Define an unused resource? Does that man if we spawn the resource it was used? If so it would just mean the BFCO can spam spawn all remaining equipment at base in last 5 minutes and not have to pay the refund.
Don't want to penalize you for buying a toy and placing it on the field and not using it either. If we one buys an M1A1 and decides to leave it at the main base I don't see why they should be penalized for it, it is a toy in pristine shape and it is unused, it should remain in the inventory and carry over to the next battle.
Receiving enemy unit if captured is good, why can't we just add it as is to the next week and have it start at the HQ, except switch models. If US steasl a Russian UAZ MHQ can't the US just have a US Hummer MHQ the next week? The Russians steal the US SAM , can't they just start with a Russian SAM the next week?
Automation so UN and BFCO do less work is very good.

Barmy FTW!
Reminds me of a funny story. A guy my father used work with had a rabbit problem in his garden. He loved his garden. He couldn't be home all day to shoot them so he rigged c4 traps for them. Sounded like he probably did more damage with the traps than the rabbits did. lol. At least 3 tours SF in Vietnam. Interesting fellow. I met him once. Reminded me a bit of Kurtz from Apocolypse Now and Sailor from Uncommon Valor. Only reason I remember that cheezey movie was because of this guy.

I'd say: play Grand Theft Auto... This is ArmA..
If my marines spot a Russian vehicles, I don't want them to start thinking of ways to capture it.
Instead the 120mm AP shell should already be on it's way !

And so you should.
But im mainly talking of MHQ's. Because those have reason for trying to bring back to own base and leave them alive. Or if you just be lucky and find enemy helo! right barmy?
