Big thanks to Ru!ner for taking the time to combine the config files of the M1A1 Abrams with the body of the T-72 to create a Russian hybrid fighting machine, capable of going head to head with the mighty Abrams!

http://youtube.com/watch?v=m3w_psTe1UEHe also did some tweaking to remove the 'turn out' ability since the T-72 textures interfere with seeing anything.

While this vid shows the T-72's new found fire power, I also did quite a bit of drive tests. You'll be happy to know it also inherited the Abrams engine power. :)

After playing with the FrankenTank for about 30 minutes, my ArmA.rpt file was 10kb. This leads me to believe this might not be another RHS Hind incident, resulting in massive .rpt files and server lag.

You can grab the PBO file HERE (http://96.226.99.129:81/Public%20Access/Software/Game%20Files/ArmA/frankentank.pbo). Drop it in your add-on's folder and you'll see it in your editor listed as Ru!ners Armor Pack.

Of course more testing is needed before it would see action in AToW, but we might be onto something here! :D

I rebuilt it as a new unit with the T-72 optics, etc but retaining the M1A1's armour, speed and main gun. No rpt errors, seems to work fine. I'll send the pbo later.

I took it for a spin and was impressed with it. My time runs were over 800m with terrain that was just on the upper edge of the BIS T72 capability (up hill).

I found that the T72FT (new NATO designation ;)) was able to beat the T72 by 12-14 seconds (69sec avg vs 82sec avg) which is quite significant when you are exposed to fire.

Obviously I am a big fan of your development for this tank.

Now can you see why no one wanted to use the T-72?! Tactics or not, it was a pig. Oh FYI, Ru!ner says he's got an updated version ready. It gives the T-72 optics back, for that truly Russian feel. :)

MAW|MajGen.Super64;62149']Now can you see why no one wanted to use the T-72?!

Yes and no. It was not a matter of want, it was a matter of what there is. All of that aside, my statement was to acknowledge a feat deemed impossible and try to help the decision to include it in the tourney.:)

Not trying to be a jerk (as hard as that may be to believe), just happy that the verbal sparing resulted in some, um, results. It may have been motivated by a desire to shut me up, but it matters not (I like to think it was a sudden burst of creativity which it obviously was).

Those who are about to die, salute you (you being ru!ner).

@ the MajGen, nice vid, it even looks like you missed with a shot but scored the hit anyway. You weren't using Blue seeking ammo were you?
