Have you guys ever thought about taking friendly tags/HUDS off? Its kind of stupid when your trying to take a point and the enemy already knows exactly, where you are on the map. Even the squad leaders can make lock boxes on infantry giving away there position. The spotting system is broken in the game. You could be in a building completely hidden. Then someone five hundred away randomly spots you out. Then your just a big red marker on the map waiting to be killed. Is there any reason these settings are on, in this tournament?

Enemy Tags are off. However, something known as Command Spotting you cannot turn off.
Perhaps I am not understanding what you are saying. Please clarify.

He means that you show on map when spotted (or even without spotting).
No command spotting. Would still love to not be able to see enemyes on map, just friendlyes.

Teach me how to config the server to achieve this and we will consider it for removing the enemy units from the map. But friendly unit positions on the map I think is wanted by very many people in the tournament to reduce the amount of practice time it would take to teach people how to communicate their position which is required for team cohesion and team efficient play.

And being able to see my units on the map would make the Generals job WORLDS easier. No longer would a conversation go something like "Me -Pvt. what is your current location? Pvt.- Sir... im in a building!"

lol Supe, that sounds like me on the first AI battles!
No GPS, and having to try to figure out where you were by reading the map and observing the terrain around you.
Poor Steveak!! Patience of a Saint that bloke when he was our CO (something I am sure that he is trying to forget!!)

Lol. Good times, Wolf. At least most of the guys were a pleasure to hang out with 'cause trying to teach comms, map reading and land navigation over the internet was not really my idea of fun gaming.

To take off the issue with people showing up on the map. Go to the ARMAPROFILE file and put Map=0;. It should be in your arma folder, if you setup your server command line correctly. If you want the commander to see friendly units on the map, you could just put a script in that shows everyone location on the map similar to berzerk.

So it is possible to only have one slot to see all friendly units on the map?

It could be possible, let me try to edit the one Karrillion made.

It's not just commanders that want to see where their team is, however all troops should be able to see where their teamates are. So if your intention is to have just the BFCO see this, my vote would be not to change they way it is.

To me the best of both worlds (realism and fun gaming) *might be* to have anyone in a unit leader slot get to see all friendly positions on the map (this includes BFCO, unit commanders). And then remove any and all references to auto-generated Enemy Map Icons.
The emphasize this *might be* the best of both worlds because I know many like realism and but just as many people have different definitions of where to drawn the line between that and fun.
