Just downloaded and looked over the VTE mod for ARMA. It is developed by a group of Austalians:
http://www.ausarma.com
I jumped on one of their servers and played for a while, pretty cool and a bit different. If you love Vietnam War games and you love ArmA, this could be for you. It is in Beta but has lots of weapons and vehicles. The maps are loaded with trees, water, rice patties, and long grass. Lots of long grass. They do not use GPS at all on foot (although you can cheat if you have a solider, ask him his position and you will get his map coords). There were areas so thick with grass we literally had to walk with our compass out. A list covering most stuff in the mod:
NVA/VC
AK47, SKS, Makorav, TT, RPG-2, RPG-7, various WW II, Russian, and Chinese weapons.
Generic Vietnamese faces and clothes.
USA, USMC, Aussie Forces
M16A1, M14, M79, M60, M1911A1, M1 Garand, M1 Carbine, sniper rifles. Aussie L1A1, G3 and a few others.
These weapons all seem to work well.
Good uniforms.
Vehicles
M113 and a variant, they need jeeps and tanks ( M-48 and M-60).
Boats
Have small PT for US, 2 Vietnamese wooden boats.
Helis:
CH-47 Chinook, UH-1 "Slick", UH-1 Gunship, AH1-E/G Cobra, OH-6 Locust, Skirosky?, ACH-47A Armed Chinook ( it needs work, but has FFAR, 40mm Grenade Launcher, 20MM Vulcan, and 5 .50 cal door gunners just like the real deal).
Planes:
A-1, A-4 Skyhawk, C-130 Transport, B-52 Bomber (it is huge), F-4 Phantom. They are working on a AC-130 Specter, personally I would start with the AC-47 "Puff the Magic Dragon".
These Aussies have a REALLY cool mod going. I signed up for their forum and hope to play from time to time, difficult with Aussie's as there schedule is so off US. If any of you are interested please take a look, the mod is downloadable but has 3 patches and an add on, not the easiest install. Let me know if you are interested in playing or need help with setup.
The only vehicles/weapons they have that might be cool for ArmA-Tow would be C-130 Transports to do a massive air drop and maybe a modernized UH-1N/Y Iroquois as the Marines still often use those today, although the Blackhawk is much better.
