Hey guys. Just so you know, half the reason I bought ArmA 2 is actually because I can work with camera here. I love making videos and have been making them for 3 years, but it was always my dream to make something original, filmed by me, etc. Before I just made music videos using trailers of various games (which isn't bad, just not as original you know). So finally with Arma 2 my dreams came true, and well here I will list my videos from when I started and until now. I gotta say I've improved :O

This is my 2nd camera video. It isn't good - it actually kinda sucks, however, this is where I tried using TV Simulator effects, and brightness and contrast effects. Now I use brightness and contrast all the time for every single video, and I use tv simulator effects quite often too, I actually really like them.

This is my 3rd camera video however it's compiled of some of my camera work and my friends' gameplay, and it's HORRIBLE for the most part. It was a failed attempt at making a Boom boom pow video, but the song sucks too much. However, if you hold on until 1.34, I turn the song into a rock remix, although if you get all the way to 2.45, and from there watch until the end, those are some very good looking scenes to now-much-better-music.

My 4th camera video. VERY GOOD. Also sad, so prepare to shed a tear (2 people did). About the aftermath of a huge battle. FYI, I used 110 triggerable GBU12 bombs in order to get the city in shape for the video... multiple times, lol. Poor Chernogorsk.

And my latest video, and my 5th camera video. Also very good, in fact quite a bunch of people loved it. The song sings about how a company of soldiers is going to war in the first verse, and then in the choruses it sings about how they're battling during sunrise, etc. Notice how I have a huge company walking in the beginning, and only so few return at the end.

And currently I am working on my first-ever directed movie with acting in it. It is a humorous arma 2 comedy video called "Super Sniper". Stay tuned!

I guess this would be my resume to making the AToW campaign video. When I mentioned that I make videos to Barmy during sunday's test, he suggested that I could possibly help out making the AToW video, so I am greatly looking forward to doing that.

I actually I have a little secret when I make my vids, but to tell you the truth I lag like sh!t when I film half of those. The reason is my processor, my graphics card is a beast but my processor is a pony, I was hoping to get a website deal and use the money earned to buy a new one, but the god damn client won't respond to my email so... I'm still waiting. However that doesn't stop me from making good looking lag-less videos, just with a better processor I'd be able to make them much easier, and when I actually play the game my PC would be able to handle more.

I use a trigger, activation with radio alpha, repetitive, init is player exec 'camera.sqs'; showCinemaBorder false and if I need the game slowed down I also add setAccTime X to it (x being whatever speed I want it to be).

Edit: well After playing the first battle I REALLY like AToW now. Towards the end there was some talk about a video, not sure who I was talking to about it but I'm hoping I'll be able to film and/or edit or at least act for the promo video. I am still searching for the right words to say how I feel about this EXCELLENT promo. I do have to say I found myself wishing and wanting it to show me some faster than normal action and explosions but the music choice was so perfectly chosen for me that I kept getting more and more excited. Woah, I gotta be honest I did NOT see that coming, especially from someone like you. Thanks a lot, I think you might like my older videos as well but this one is the most advanced one, much more advanced than the one before it (the soldier) so it's a big gap there.

Leksi, I'm sure if you truly like video editing and want to learn it you will get to the point where I am now. I do video editing as my main occupation, so this is something that I will constantly try to improve on throughout my life, eventually turning it into my career. But even as a hobby, although having to spend a lot of extra time on it, I'm sure you will be able to do this kind of cool stuff.
Also this video was done fully in sony vegas, including the text. God help you when I make a video in after effects, lol...(no brag, just joke)

I'm learning to use after effects propetly at the moment, and its seems to be very "powerful" program. Already know how to do 3d texts and shinings to those, but thats all :). Going to learn more--------->

Yeah I decided to move after effects for later because summer's ending and I'm starting my first year of high school so I need some time to focus on that :( In fact I have problems handling schools and this is a particularly good one so it'll be tough. I don't even know when I'll be able to make another video once it starts.

Looks very cool! I like that you kept it just simple, like mine.
What I think would actually be better, is that since you're using a realistic looking rocky texture, you should try embedding the text into it and having it not move at all, so it looks like it's just in there.
I like the sound effects, where did you get them? Video copilot? (I have it, which probably means I have all those...damn, I got so much stuff that's just waiting to be used, enough to keep me up for years)

P.S. when i was making that clip i got "error" message which said that im running out of memory?? or space or something, i did not get it, then i decided to google it and it said that its a crash bug or something. you have any ideas what it could be? Using AE CS4

Leksi, yes After Effects is a huge memory eater (RAM)... so yeah, that's why its sometimes hard to work with it.

I was impressed with the editing but not whats in it. I didn't like how you portrayed the Marines as civilian killers and in general I didn't like how you showed so much brutal death in particular. I mean you can show war but zooming in on faces of dead civilians like that... I don't know, seems just too brutal.

Criticsm is always welcome, but i think that war is brutal so why to hide the brutality? to say to the people that war is nice?

Well you did portray it wrong. Yes war is brutal but americans often tend to avoid civilian kills, but still, I mean, it is a game and war is brutal but interesting, and these games are made to take out most of the brutality but leave the interest in. I guess I'm going too far though, but I just feel so disturbed by the vid... its just like sad, and when you see their screaming dead faces I just think argghh, why!?

Bah lol, this is a personal thing then, I just dont like those kind of videos. So don't mind me, that wasn't very constructive criticism. Editing wise I liked your video as a music video. You actually tried a few interesting camera angles that I hadn't thought of before, so a beer for you for that. Im actually curious how you got citizens dead in the ground with flies hovering them, and the hangman thing? Also very good use of the gamepad camera controls, it's what I used in my last video (I bought one just for this purpose, my earlier videos didn't use it).
I don't see much problems with your video, I was actually quite impressed, seriously. Good job, I'd invite you to the Arma Movie Group but hell I don't even know if we're still working on it. I'll get back to you if we continue the progress of it's website, etc.

PS: I would LOVE the ending of it if her voice didn't crack every time, that gets to MY head now.

I know iceshark, you are not the only one who wants to see full ending, but i can say thats quite impossible, it just cant render whole F*****G movie, i rendered the movie about 7times and always it was missing some seconds of the ending.

jimmy was over watching how a squad enter the containers area and he said something like hell i should really record this
so maybe we should make a video starting whit the big battle map (shown al the zones extra)
then go down just like in the start of every bohemia arma2 vid.
and centre in on the containers area point out that its a zone let a squad or two enter it shoot and kill some units let the zone flip whit some special effects.
then let the other side do a halo drop near containers squad take up defensive positions repel the attack and you have everything atow is offering in one video.

Well we could do a cheap gameplay video, or we could do a cheap gameplay video using the camera script OR we could spend extra time acting to make a higher quality movie that shows exactly what we do, just in a more professional manner in terms of video editing. It'll still represent us though, so nothing unrealistically epic.
