Welcome to ArmaII-TheatreOfWar
For those of you from our Arma:TheatreOfWar tournament somethings about this tournament will be very firmiliar, somethings will be new and different.
The first obvious new thing is ArmaII, its new its pretty, its not perfect but I think those who have played it will agree that the benefits will be worth the enevitable hic-cup that will no doubt occour on the way. The Beta C0 and C1 will be played as stock as possible, and I look forward to seeing the Russians getting to play with the new toys, that in my opinion they have been lacking since ArmaI, the T90, BMP3 and of course the official Hind and Ka52 helicopters.
We think we've not done a bad job of Theatre of War, its not perfect - however there are somethings that need to be done to improve the tournament.
We are going to make some changes as to how the armies are organised between tours.
Let me make this very clear we are not going to force anyone to change army, however the system is designed to encourage people to move between armies.
At the start for the ArmaII tournament and after each Full Length campaign, everyone will re-register for your army of choice. Players can then either donate a small amount ( proably $5 ) to join the army of their choice player numbers allowing, or submit to the whim of fate/join which ever army is under numbers. Note that the old sponsorship system will still be in effect for those that cannot come up with a small donation and do not want to be placed with the team with the least players.
For the beta (C0) and the first (C1) campaign both teams will continue as their old designations, Team-Jupiter** will be Russian and Team-Goldman** will be USMC. However after C1 campaign is completed, the armies willalso change equipment, so for C2 Team-Jupiter army will fight in BLUFOR uniforms and Team-Goldman will play REDFOR. However, you will ALWAYS be allowed to Register for the Team of your choice, depending on wether you want to follow a general or an equipment set.
Hopefully in the long term switching the equipment between teams will alleviate out any imbalances in equipment, as I am hoping we can get a little more adventurous in how we balance equipment and stop mirroring like for like and allowing some true differences in equipment make-up.
I promise we will make it very clear at the beginning of each campaign who the two generals are and which equipment they will be fighting with, before you sign up - all you have to do is choose.
BA
** neither army has announced their new generals yet so team names are based on their C3-Generals, watch for new announcments soon.
